Textbook sections shown in green should be emphasized in your studies.
Sections in yellow may be omitted as they will not be covered, neither in lecture nor on examinations.
Sections in pink are covered out of the normal chapter sequence. When these out-of- sequence sections appear on the same table-line as the chapter containing them, you may omit them while studying that chapter. When they appear on the table-line of a subsequent chapter, do include them as you study that subsequent chapter.
Only selected portions of sections in black are covered. For those sections in black, you are responsible for only the portions covered in lecture.
Please note also that you are responsible for all material covered in prerequisite courses, especially when that material is reviewed in the various sections of your Organic Chemistry textbook, no matter which of the categories -- black, green, pink, or yellow -- these sections fall into.
