Laboratory Text: You are required to purchase a lab manual from your course or lab. instructor prior to the first scheduled lab.  The cost is approximately $15.00 You must also bring your copy of The Living World  to lab every week for use as a resource.

Objectives:
1.To help you become biologically literate.  That is, to understand biological principles as they apply to you and your environment, and to understand how to use your knowledge responsibly.

2. To help you understand the nature of scientific inquiry by practicing inquiry in the laboratory and in the field.   That is, what questions are accessible and appropriate, and what methods are available to seek answers.

Grading:  This laboratory = 40% of your course grade in Biology 101.  Specifics for each lab exercise are given under "requirements".

Policies:
Attendance:  Attendance is required. Consistent attendance is the key to a good grade.  Consult your laboratory instructor should a problem arise.

ALL assignments are due on the date specified on the assignment!
Late papers lose 10% of their value for each day late!

Make-ups: Make up exams are given only under conditions of documented excuses which the student has processed with the Assistant Provost. NO OTHER MAKE-UPS WILL BE GIVEN ! THE INSTRUCTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SCHEDULE MAKE UP LABS and will do so only after receiving documentation from the Assistant Provost.

Office hours: Five official office hours will be held each week. Students are welcome in my office at any time - drop-in or make an appointment.
