Chromatic aberrations.

There are some, but consider it is a 10X zoom lens.
Keep the sun at your back and you can avoid the worst C.A.  The purple fringing is at it's worst when there is a sharp transition from an overexposed area to a black area.

I'm not sure the blue fringing is all due to the lens.  Look at the purple in the shadow areas in the picture below:

Also in the face of the horse (also a shadow area):

Seems like more of a white balance problem, but the whites do look accurate.  In Paint Shop decreasing the blue channel 5 to 10% and increasing the gamma a little if needed helps get rid of it.
