Supernova 1998s in NGC 3877

Digitized Sky Survey image of NGC 3877

All images below were taken with a 16 bit Apogee AP-6 on the Sproul 24" f18 refractor.  Image field is approximately 8x8 arc minutes.

Photometry on images 1-5 reworked from raw data on May 1, 98. 


First successful attempt, there were some computer problems so the image is not as good as it could be.
Taken about 9:20 PM EST March 30, 1998, unfiltered, 8 minute exposure.  (2:20 UT 3/31/98)
Approximate SN magnitude is 12.7



Taken about 8:20 PM EST April 2, 1998, unfiltered, 8 minute exposure.  (1:20 UT 4/3/98)
Approximate SN magnitude is 12.8
